About Augello’s Pontoon Welding

A wealth of experience and a family legacy

Owner Bob Augello has 21 years of welding experience and has been in business for 13 years serving pontoon owners at the Lake, and from afar. Growing up around welding with his family, who has been in the welding business in Chicago since the 1950’s, Bob came by his talent naturally. He began working in the family’s shop at only 14 years old, and upon graduating high school, he started working full-time in the family business.

As a young adult, he studied music and achieved an associate’s degree in the arts. He planned to complete college and ultimately make music his career. After a 4th of July vacation to the Lake with his wife back in 2011, those plans changed and they found themselves feeling a move was right, relocating by Labor Day of the same year. Deciding to put his expert welding skills to use, he left his job and opened his business to begin serving the wealth of pontoon welding needs in the area.

With a son and daughter, they’ve grown to a family of four, and over the years have taken to the lake life. His kids’ favorite place is Ha Ha Tonka where they love to walk the trails and explore the ruins.

An affinity for the arts

With an artistic spirit and a love for bringing ideas to life, Bob has completed several works, including many that are a nod to his children, such as a functional robot with the loving face of Wall-E and an even heavier robot in steel with the name of Moneybags. Even his son has a dedicated space he refers to as “the shop,” the same word his dad uses to describe his workspace.

Some of the other works created by Bob include a metallic sculpture of Rocky Balboa that showcases his skillset with aluminum, two-dimensional etched portraits in etched or carved metal of Duncan Muscle, Ronda Rousey, and Kurt Cobain that highlight.
